How to combine business with pleasure? In the opinion of the French businessman Giovanni Buono it can be done with the help of a private auction and a bottle of champagne with a unique token. The price of the lot with the NFT Bored Ape was a “modest” 2.5 million dollars.
The closed auction, held in June 2022, attracted the attention of many collectors. One of the top lots was a 2017 bottle of Château Avenue Foch Champagne. Its main feature, however, was not its contents, but the NFT from the rare Bored Ape Yacht Club collection.
The project was co-created by Shammi Sheen and the author of the famous tokens, who performs under the pseudonym Mig. The label features five NFTs on the bottle, including images of bats and a “bored monkey”. In addition, it is decorated with Swarovski crystals and pewter.

However, the champagne here is no slouch either. Several elite grapes were used to create it:
- Chardonnay;
- Pinot Noir;
- Pinot Meunier.
The drink was born on the expanse of the Premier Cru vineyard in the Champagne province. Consequently, the makers of the drink keep up with the label when it comes to uniqueness.
“I have no plans to consume it. I suppose it would be a great investment. There’s a lot of turmoil in the financial world, geopolitically things are changing extremely fast. Rich people will be looking for places to store their wealth for a while – and that could very well be champagne, with an NFT attached to it,” said Giovanni Buono.
