The Uniswap Labs team has acquired Genie, the first NFT marketplace aggregator. In their announcement, they weren’t shy about being honest about the goal – it’s part of their plan for “general expansion.”

Genie works on the same principle as exchange aggregators: it allows you to search for NFTs on different platforms and buy and sell them. The aggregator supports “batch” buying of art tokens in a single transaction, which saves on gas fees.

The aggregator will now become part of the Uniswap ecosystem and will be renamed Uniswap NFT. The move and rebranding is scheduled for the fall; customers will use Genie as usual until then.

Uniswap will also integrate NFT into APIs and widgets for developers, allowing them to experiment with web3 technologies, improve old products and come up with new ones.

Holiday Airdrop

To celebrate the event, Uniswap will airdrop USDC to Genie customers who have had more than one transaction by April 15, as well as to GENIE:GEM NFT owners. The promotion will begin in August, and tokens can be received throughout the year based on snaps made.

Uniswap currently owns the largest market share in terms of DeFi trading volume. A month ago, they celebrated a record with their historical volume of cryptocurrency traded surpassing $1 trillion.

PancakeSwap is second in terms of volume, with SushiSwap, Astroport, Curve and the rest of the protocols distributing the rest.
