Last week, Warner Bros. announced a new collaborative project with Nifty. The firm intends to tokenize Looney Tunes characters, and the first will be Tweety the canary.

The new collection is called “Looney Tunes: What’s Up Block?” and is scheduled to launch this summer. The project celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Looney Tunes franchise.

The collection will feature tokenized avatars of popular cartoon characters in PFP format. In addition to Tweety, users will be able to purchase an NFT image with Bugs Bunny, Marvin the Martian, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig and others.

In addition, token holders will receive other preferences. These include invitations to exclusive events, discounts on merchandise, unique merch and more.

“We think Web 3 in general and NFT in particular will be a big step forward in the entertainment industry. That said, Looney Tunes is not afraid to make fun of itself or pop culture in general. The result will be a bit ironic, but that’s exactly what it takes to bring people into the new gaming space,” said Josh Hackbarth, head of commercial development for NFT at Warner Bros.

The company has had experience with token commercialization before. Warner Bros. previously used the technology for two large-scale projects, Space Jam: A New Legacy and The Matrix.
